SUMMER TIME SKIN CARE ESSENTIALS (FOR SENSITIVE/PROBLEMATIC SKIN)

Aztec clay and charcoal mask for sensitive skin

Hey Luvs, hope you all are having a wonderful, safe, blessed and productive day. In today’s post, I’m dealing with skin care for the hot and humid weathers.

IT’S SUMMER TIME YOU ALL – are you feeling the heat yet?

It is heated outside, very heated. As we enter these hot, humid days, for some this means, adjusting your skin care routine to adapt to such temperatures. Our bodies react differently.

If you’re like me, then you’re allergic and sensitive to everything (when I say EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING).

Dealing with psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis , acne or like skin conditions, pose challenges on its own. From skin flare ups and itchy patches, to heat rashes and dry skin, Oh hunny, the list goes on. Mixing all these skin problems with the heat, sweat and environmental particles, oh Lawdy, the struggle is REAL.

  • Amongst the heat and usual environmental factors, in the Caribbean we are also struggling with the Saharan dust. Allergies and sinus problems….whewwww, “oh Lord”, what’s next.

Having the right products and routine to combat these issues whilst weathering these hot day, is quite essential in maintaining healthy skin.

Below, I’ve listed the products I use to combat my skin sensitivity and problems.

CETAPHIL DEEP CLEANSING BAR SOAP

cetaphil deep cleansing bar soap for sensitive skin

I’ve been using my cetaphil soap forever. Growing with sensitive problematic skin, this product has never change in my routine. Ensuring my skin is being deep cleaned in a gentle and non-irritating way on a daily, is a must and has proven to drastically help with my skin issues.

BODY SCRUBS AND BODY MASK

My DIY aztec clay and charcoal mask, oh yes hunny. That tightening, pulsating action from the clay assures my skin is in good hands. I apply this on a weekly bases from head to toes. In maintaining clean, clear skin, it’s important you not only work on the surface of your skin, but target the pores as well. These two power ingredients (aztec clay and charcoal), works deep in the pores by attaching itself to the impurities, gunk and oils which may clog our pores. Riding the impurities as it washes of, this mask clears the skin issues and preps my skin for full absorption of the goodness I apply to our skin afterwards.

AVEENO ECZEMA THERAPY MOISTURIZING CREAM

I then follow my body scrub and mask with the Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream. Moisture, moisture, moisture. It’s hot and you are sweating a-lot. I know. But moisture is very important for the well being of your skin my luvs. This bad boy right here, contains ingredients my sensitive skin needs and loves. The star, oatmeal. If you suffer with sensitive and problematic skin, then you know the beneficial role oatmeal play in the well-being of the skin. This thick formula when applied to damp skin, coats my sensitive skin ensuring it is soothed, calm and sealed with the great beneficial goodness.

SUNS SCREEN

Missha Near Skin Dustless Sunblock for Summer time

Yes hunny, it’s a must. I know a lot of you guys out there do not use suns screen, but believe it, you are doing a lot of damage to you skin when you don’t. I did an entire post about this sun screen, so click to view. I really love the fact, it’s created for sensitive skin and it also blocks the environmental particles from entering the skin.

  1. I’ve been wanting to try Cetaphil for the longest! But I’m so afraid if I change my skincare from Dove to anything else, something is going to happen lol. Oh, and I’m definitely trying that natural hair mask! I’ve been looking for a hair mask too! Thanks girl!

My pleasure love. Trust me, you wouldn’t have that problem with cetaphil. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I always forget to put on sunscreen. For those who think black folks don’t need sunscreen its so not true. I have came back peeling on many occasions due to lots of sun exposure. I often see the face mask but wouldn’t have thought to use it on my entire body.

No no, sunscreen is a must. When you suffer from problematic, sensitive skin like mine, and you’re a lover and believer in your natural products, you invent anything for positive results sake. Thanks for stopping by Deary.

  3. Cetaphil products have been my holy grail since I’ve started these autoimmune treatments. My eczema flares so bad but cetaphil seems to help. Love all the tips!
