10 WAYS TO FEEL BETTER WHEN YOU ARE FEELING DOWN AND IN A FUNK

HOW TO NATURALLY FALL ASLEEP FAST

Ever had one of those days when you are feeling down, sad, drained, stressed, confused or just plain old BLAH?

HELLO, AM I SPEAKING TO SOMEONE?

You are in a funk and your mood is total trash!!!

I do.

I have my moments when I feel like doing nothing at all. Consequently, I don’t want to see or speak to anyone. I don’t want to think about anything, more-less do anything because I’m in a funky mood.

Can you relate?

Moments like these, I wish life could just pause for me to improve my mood and pick myself up when I’m feel down. Unfortunately, life doesn’t wait on you to feel better, so it’s important you implement, what I like to call “quick fix me uppers”  for yourself on these down moments to recharge, rejuvenate and improve you mood when you feel these negative energies.

Thou it’s normal and quite okay to have these moments and down feelings ever so often, it’s important you never allow these temporary moments to control, consume or take precedence of your existence .

For me personally, these randomly occur, for instance, when I’m stressed, over worked, mentally over occupied and my mind, body and soul is in dying need of rest and some well deserved TLC.

Below, I’ve compiled a list of things I do and highly recommend you attempt in your phase, to feel better when you feel down, sad, depressed, confused, drained and in your funk.

MEDITATE

The act of nothingness. Allowing yourself to clear all channels, sit still and think of nothing. Listening to the rhythm of your inflow and outflow of breathing is quite calming. As simple as it sounds, if you are a newbie to meditation, it can be somewhat challenging and confusing to grasp the act of complete stillness. But trust, with consistency, you’ll find meditating so life changing.

A SIMPLE – HOW TO MEDITATE

Allowing your Mind, Body, Sprit that calmness produces a recharge in energy. Definitely give it a try.

Meditation is an everyday activity for me, so I can go on and on about its benefits. But hey!!! try it and you’ll see. Start with, minimum 30 minutes a day . If complete silents is too strange, you can opt to play some calming and meditating music.

PRAY

Okay, no explanations needed. We all should know the power of prayers when we connect with our God. If you don’t, I really advise you start directing your intentions and problems to your God. At times we get discouraged, lack faith and motivation by the thing we don’t see. Have faith and watch mountains move. GUARANTEE

WRITE and CRY

I wrote these two together because both acts correlate for me. The flow of tear drops is the out-flow of negativity and the release of build up frustration exiting your body. Most times your body is trying to tell you something. Write anything, something. Use this time to vent on paper. Empty your mind, heart and soul. Put those feelings to paper. Not to anyone now!!!

ALONE TIME

This leads me to, allow yourself to have some alone time. This protects you, your sanity and also protects the people around you. During this time we don’t have the energy to control our feelings. During experiencing these down feelings and funky moods, it’s quite easy to lash out on close ones and don’t even mean it.

Remember, once an action is done or words are exchanged, especially “negatively”, it cannot be undone. What ever hurt or insult you’ve unintentionally inflicted will always be done.

EXERCISE

Not necessarily anything strenuous. I like going on lone walks and runs. This helps me sweat out my worries, it gets my adrenaline pumping allowing my cells to reconnect and reactivate. I use this time to bond with nature, breathing in and out that clean naturally filtered O2. Unwinding with some light yoga stretches to loosen my tenseness, does me just fine.

MUSIC

Playing some meaningful, relatable music helps me find my way back home. To me that is.

WARM BATH

Taking a nice warm bath is so refreshing and recharging. Something about that steam entering the pores as they open!!! Ahhhhhhhh. Sprinkle some eucalyptus or lavender essential oils. I just stay there, doing absolutely nothing but drenching my body from head to toe, allowing the water and steam to do what it does. Trust me, your senses will be opened, resulting in you being most relaxed.

GUILTY PLEASURE

Indulging in something nice, not something ordinary. Anything alone the line of dessert and wine. HELLURRRRRR!!!! yess huntayyyy.

SLEEP

Go to sleep as quick as possible with the aim of getting my 7-8 hours of sleep in, which is quite unusual for me. A good sleep does wonders to the mind, body and soul. Unwinding with a hot cup of my favorite calming all natural herbal tea or a glass of wine, HELLURRR, YES SIR…thats it right there.

Within two twos you’re out. TOMORROW HERE YOU COME!!! Awaken, refreshed and rejuvenated the next day. Hi world, **breathe in, breathe out**, “I’m back”.

In conclusion

These are my top 10 things I do to pick myself up and feel better about myself and life. I do hope these practices find their way to your well-being routine.

  3. Great suggestions. I feel like we underestimate the power of sleep. I am a completely different person when I get sleep the sleep that I need compared to when I don’t. I am also learning the importance of disconnecting from social media. That has worked wonders in making me feel better.

  13. Actually today I’m feeling like this. I have quickly resorted to prayer as I’ve learned not to handle my problems on my own. Moreso I just don’t feel like being bothered or pretending with anyone. I live a busy life doing so many things. Sometimes it’s good to resort to peaceful things to stay focused and intune with what God has for you and not man.

    1. Naturally Free says:

Well said. That’s the right thinking. Stay strong and thanks much for stopping by. Definitely stay tuned.

    1. Naturally Free says:

Being able to let those bottled up emotions out is such a relief. Thanks much for stopping by.

  17. I have done most of the above, but the one I love doing on the regular is that of listening to some soothing music, which puts me in a good space. What folks often forget is that as individuals you do need so alone time which helps you to do some introspection figure out what you ought to achieve out of life and also what and who you ought to move out of your immediate circle. With all the hussle and bussle of life we all need to slow down and smell the roses and just enjoy life as best as we all can.

    1. Naturally Free says:

So true. Life is full of so many ups and down, if you do not make time to regroup!!! LORD have mercy, you will be gone with the wind. Thanks much for stopping by.
